School Book Scheme – Information for Parents
Our school operates a School Book Scheme to support families and ensure that all students have access to the textbooks and learning materials they need for school.
Purpose of the School Book Scheme
The School Book Scheme aims to:

Reduce the overall cost of schoolbooks for families

Promote equality of access to learning resources

Encourage care, responsibility and sustainability through the reuse of books
The scheme is supported by funding from the Department of Education.
How the scheme works
Under the scheme:

Textbooks and certain core resources are provided to students by the school

Books remain the property of the school and are issued on loan

Students are expected to care for books responsibly throughout the school year

Books must be returned in good condition at the end of the year or when a student leaves the school
Some materials, such as workbooks, copybooks or optional resources, may not be included and may need to be purchased separately by parents.
Student responsibility
Students are expected to:

Keep books clean, covered and clearly labelled

Bring required books to class each day

Avoid damage such as writing in textbooks, tearing pages or water damage

Report any issues or loss to the school as soon as possible
Loss or damage beyond normal wear and tear may result in a charge to replace the book.
Parental support
Parents can support the scheme by:

Encouraging students to look after their books

Ensuring books are returned on time

Covering the cost of replacement where books are lost or damaged
Your cooperation helps the scheme to operate fairly and sustainably for all students.
Review and updates
The list of books covered by the scheme is reviewed regularly and may change from year to year in line with curriculum requirements and funding.
