Google Applications for Education – Information for Parents
Our school uses Google Workspace for Education to support teaching, learning and communication. This is a suite of secure, education-specific digital tools provided by Google and widely used in Irish post-primary schools.
What is Google Workspace for Education?
Google Workspace for Education includes applications such as:

Google Classroom – a secure online space where teachers share resources, assignments and feedback

Google Docs, Slides and Sheets – tools for writing, presentations and data work

Google Drive – online storage for schoolwork

Gmail (school accounts only) – for communication related to learning

Google Meet – used occasionally for online or blended learning
Students access these tools using a school-managed account, not a personal Google account.
How are these tools used in school?

Student accounts are managed and monitored by the school

Advertising is not shown in education accounts

Student data is not used for commercial purposes
Students receive guidance on responsible and safe use of technology, and all use is covered by the school’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).
